UPDATES!

Hello fellow readers!

There is so much happening right now, below is an update for each of our current projects :)

Thailand Missions Trip
We are still waiting, praying and believing that God will provide the means to go there. For 5 of us to go is roughly $5000.00 and we also would like to bless the drop in centre over there with and extra $1000.00 We hope that we will be able to have the full means donated to buy our tickets within the next week so that we can be in Thailand by the beginning of December. Please spread the word as the Holy Spirit leads you.

Carols By Candlelight youth girls dance

Falling into the Calling!

As you know, when the Lord comes back we will know the season but not the time. Not even Jesus knows the time. But it is in the eleventh hour that we fill ourselves with that extra oil and our faith overflows as we wait and expect His coming.

Matthew 24:36But of that [exact] day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

The waterbrook youth, finally now has the title of ‘Eleventh Hour’.

We look forward to enjoying your fellowship as we expectantly seek the Lord while we can.

God bless,

Kimberley.

The begining of Journey

In conjunction with a local politician waterbrook youth has stepped out into the public once more to create more of Gods beauty by serving the community. This week was all about helping the community where it was needed most. When the idea came around it was one of the most precise ways that we had thought of to make a difference in the local community of people around us. We spent the saturday night at the local RSL putting on a BBQ, inviting politicians, professional atheletes, defense service representatives to speak whilst smoothing it all over with a DJ to set the atmosphere of a relaxed friendly occasion. The night had been planned with great diligence all for the purpose of reaching the troubled youth in the socitey.

However there was one small problem with the evening, the event lacked a significant number of youth, you could say that we failed, but if you ask anyone who was switched on that night you’ll find that God had a plan even for that night itself. Despite the absence of youth the night ran onwards and the plans that had been made were carried out, all the speakers spoke and the sausages were cooked, the music continued to play, and our youth group experienced a well organised event with great potential, made many new and precious contacts and walked away with more than a few options for the future.

So all in all the night was a journey that our God wanted to take us on… it was just a different journey to the one that we expected!!

Serving in the shelter

This Saturday just gone by, Waterbrook youth helped serve dinner at the mens homeless shelter ‘Ozcare’ in the city. It’s a not-so-confronting environment, but in dire need of volunteers. Our role was to give a smile and a greeting, put the food onto the plates, clean up after, and hopefully make a point of contact with an individual where God can make a difference in their life. Ozcare would greatly appreciate the help of volunteers so if you have a night spare during your week then contact them or us and start serving. Our direction for the utility of our team is on the frontline in the Northern suburbs, so that’s where we’ll be heading next. :)

Psalm 91:1-3
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! For then He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

Compassion for the Community

Saturday the 14th May brought the youth of Waterbrook together once more. This time with the God given endeavour to change the hearts of the local community. In the previous fortnight the leaders (Gary, Phil, John, William, Kimberley, Kassia, Jess T and Jess E) had determined get some fresh fruit and veges out to those who struggled to get food on the table each week.

As always with God you get where your going one way or the other, and that is exactly what happened. The Sunday before God had blessed the group with enough funds to produce a carload of parcels, and job for entire group. Before we departed bags were filled with pumpkin, potatoes, carrot, tomatoes, lettuce, apples, pears and oranges, when we arrived we met the many unexpected citizens God had planned to bless.

The responses of the local community where quite various, leaving us with a greater understanding of what we are up against, in changing this community to know the love of God; whether it be to know that He cares or He’s real or just that they are loved and God wants them to know Him and all His glory.

Over all the two and half hours of 13 hard working youth members/leaders was an awesome success (as expected when you are doing gods will) and big step forward in every direction. I can’t wait until next youthgroup and once you’ve been neither will you!!!!!

See you there next time,
William.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen!

So far Waterbrook Youth has been going to Ozcare helping to serve the homeless dinner, but finally we got together to bond, unite informally and have a little leisure time!  Bowling was on the agenda, as Phil (the overseer) quoted in church “We even had a pensioner there (Gary)” who won with flying colours (from his technicolour coat)! John quietly expressed his Michael Jackson moves as the glow-in-the-dark-disco raged. There was cheese provided for none other than myself (kidding - but seriously), and previously warmed up, thick sweaty shoes for Kassia – yum! Will-i-am’s team had a mountain of suspense and tension between who was going to win their rat race. Jessica (junior) took the prize home of a black, bruised finger (ouchy-mama!) and Jessykkah (senior) photographed those kodak moments. And of course our sheep grazed blissfully the entire night away (see below for some photos)!

Our next event will be giving out some fruit and vegetables to those in need, this is taking place this Saturday afternoon after the ladies meeting. If you desire to donate please do so on Friday night at the ‘Alter of Incense’ prayer meeting or Saturday at the ladies meeting – please give your donations of money or groceries (preferred) to Kassia or myself.

Farewell, and see you this weekend!

- Kimberley!

Luke 21:36 Keep awake then and watch at all times [be discreet, attentive, and ready], praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things [taken together] that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.

Greetings!

Buenos dias!

It is my great pleasure to write the first blog for Waterbrook Youth! This will be a visual account of our expeditions for memorabilia’s sake and also for you to peruse at your own leisure. By watching this space you will be able to have an outsider’s inside view of what happens where we go and how God uses us. Big things come from small beginnings! (Proverbs). So if you’re not taking part with us by all means come and get involved or support because time only keeps on ticking.

To introduce what we stand for I’ll start off by saying: we avail ourselves to the Lord and prioritise Him above all else. As sons of God with servant hearts, we live with the understanding “…but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it” (Mark 8:35).

We live by scripture and desire to practice it to the best of our ability by putting faith into action with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We believe a difference in what God has planned for Waterbrook Youth, a new version of what was traditionally accepted in this world. Below is our motivation and goal to achieve:

Matthew 25:35-40
‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ ”Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? ’And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ’When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

Thanks for reading and hope to see you come help out with the youth some time!

-Kimberley.
